Birth Photography

A gift you are,

from heaven above,

a perfect example

of God’s precious love.

-Wendy Snyder.  Quote from “Grammy’s Angel”.

Having worked in hospitals in the Houston area for more than 9 years, this gives me the confidence and knowledge to feel comfortable and to establish a professional communication with the Labor and Delivery staff that will assist you.  However, it is necessary that you consult with your doctor about having a photographer during the delivery.   Once that is out of the way, we can start talking about your thoughts and expectations in order to make these precious moments bring joy forever.

Q & A

What kind of equipment do you use?

I always bring with me 2 Nikon professional cameras, D4 and D800 models.  3 different full frame, professional fast lenses also by Nikon.  2 speed lights (flashes), which will be used only if necessary, most of the time, ambient light is preferred. All L&D rooms are different and I need to make sure I bring the right equipment for a perfect photo shoot.

When will you arrive?

I will arrive at your room when you are 6 cm dialated.  I will be communicating with the designated family member to make sure that we are all there on time.

How long will you stay postpartum?

I will be with you at the L&D room for 1-2 hours.  If you need more time to wait for family members or friends, I can stay and add an extra fee to your package.

What if I need a C-section instead?

Most hospitals allow a photographer in the room.  This is something you have to arrange with your doctor in advance.

What if you missed the birth?

Births can be so unpredictable!  If for some reason the birth happens rapidly and there wasn’t enough time for me to arrive, we will still have a full session, with everyone present in the delivery room.  The key is to establish flawless communication.

How many pictures can I expect?

We will  meet again to discuss which photograph you would like to keep.  In a birth photography session, I will take 400 to 500 photographs.  You will receive 100 to 200 professionally edited photographs in digital form, via USB, CD or electronically delivered.  Printed photographs can be added to your package for an additional fee.

When can I get my pictures?

Professionally editing an entire birth session photos can take days of work.  However, you should get all your pictures within 2 weeks.
